Afternoon of Fashion

On October 1 2017 it was a breathe of fresh air to attend Tiffany Toussaint’s new velvet collection fashion show. Surprisingly I wore velvet not knowing that velvet was the theme of the collection. I was prepared to be apart of the show. The event was held in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn, not only the weather was perfect. The ambiance of the fashion show was immaculate and well put together. Light drinks and hors d’oeuvres was sereved that was very pleasing to the taste buds. The show 1st started with motivational speaker Nikkie Pyrce. She spoke on taking the next step to motivate yourself on moving forward with your dreams. Nikkie had the crowd in tune, even giving away a signed copy of her new book called “Dreamers, Take Action!”. Followong schedule the beautiful models graced the cat walk. Designer Tiffany Toussaint created each garment precisely with great dedication to the women’s body. The colors she chose were likable to all skin tones. Each model was as if they wore an invisible crown and they took each step with courage of loyalty. They may or may not felt that way, but that’s the aura the material was giving off. We were overly pleased with each design that was displayed. After all the models were showcased the designer herself came out to speak that was heart warming to the ears. Tiffany thanked everyone in attendance and also the team of people that helped the day a success. Closing of the show everyone was able  to network and enjoy the rest of the event. We here at Eight2Seven had a splendid time and loved Tiffany Toussaint’s new collection. Over all the experience was amazing, not only the event displayed someone’s talent. You also left the event encouraged and motivated to keep pushing for your dreams!!!

Eight2Seven x PS 184:Career Day

On Friday May 19 2017 Eight2Seven Boutique had the opportunity to be involved with PS 184 Career Day. We had the honor to speak to 6 classes. When we arrived we were greeted with some of the staff and breakfast. Following schedule the 1st session started at 9 and the last session ended at 12. As we enter the classroom we instantly engage with the youth. The students were in great spirits, we spoke with each class for about 20-25 minutes. We explained to the students how you can handle working in retail corporate America and maintaining the growth of a small business. In each class I had the students to speak out loud their dreams using “I AM”. For instance if they wanted to be a doctor, they had to say I AM a doctor. If a student wasn’t sure what they wanted to be as of yet, they were to say I AM a dreamer. This was a awesome excerise to execute with the students. It was a great feeling being able to inspire and encourage the youth of today that will be leading our future.  The highlight of attending Career Day is that we are going to take one of the students who dream is to become a fashion designer to a fabric store. She’s an inspiring fashion designer and she never been to a fabric store so this will be her 1st trip to one. The face she made when she found out she’s going was priceless. Sometimes we may not know what we are placed on this earth to do, but when opportunities come like this. It’s definitely a reminder that your place on this earth for a purpose. Eight2Seven Boutique wants to say thank you to PS 184 for giving us this day to inspire. The energy was uplifting and motivational. Anyone reading this NEVER give up on your dreams, trust your struggles. Continue to chase your dreams!!!

Mr.Vegas listening party

International dancehall reaggae artist Mr.Veags famously know for hot singles like “Bruk it down” & “Heads high” release a new album called “soul therapy”. For many who may not know, Mr.Vegas is now recording gospel music. Eight2Seven boutique was invited to Mr.Veags listening party followed by a Q&A from the attending audience. As some of the songs were being played you can see the interaction Mr.Vegas felt while he heard the songs replay to his ears. Mr.Vegas spoke on various life situations he experienced, which in the long run he said brought him closer to father God. It was intriguing having this intimate moment with the artist, hearing his testimony was refreshing. It was a reminder that we are all humans, famous or not. The songs that were played were soothing to soul. Being of Jamaican descent it was inspiring to hear him speak on his life, it was motivational to see another great individual speak on the journey of success. The event was held at a private location, a loft near the manhattan bridge. MarieDriven from Playbook Media did a great job organizing the event. We here at Eight2Seven was glad to attend, it was awesome!

NY FASHION WEEK FEB 9-16TH 2017

It’s that time of year again, good ol fashion week!!! This time around we were able to see various designers. The 1st show we attended was kid’s collection presentation on February 11th, at Yotel hotel (570 10th Ave, New York, NY 10036). Featuring some dope children designers which included BaBa bling kids, Vanndalz, Moque & little miss aoki. First time attending a children fashion show was refreshing; the children that walk in the show had so much spice & spunk. Each child showed their personality walking down the runway, even the kiddies that ran away from the runway was so cute. The show was scheduled to start at 12 but didn’t start until after 1, if you ever attended a fashion show majority of the time they hardly start on time. But overall the show was a success, the children had a great time & their parents, relatives and friends were cheering them on while they showcase the amazing garments the designers created.

The following Day February 12th 2017 we attended Lisa Nicole from Bravo show “Married to the medicine” & designer Machicao collection. The fashion show was sponsored by Monster headphones held at Slate (54 West 21st Street, New York, NY 10016). On this day the weather wasn’t pleasant at all, it was cold and raining. When fashion calls, who really cares about the weather? This time around the show didn’t start as late as yesterday show. We had front row seats to capture both designers’ incredible pieces that they were showcasing. The detailing of the dresses of both designers was on point. Both designers incorporated sheer and lace into their designs, they were both on trend. We had an excellent time despite the weather not being too good. What better way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon!

Eight2Seven Boutique dress featured on Love&HipHop NY

What an amazing feeling? To turn on your television and boom you see one of your items on national television. What more of a blessing that can be? Last month Eight2Seven had the opportunity to do and Q&A with one of the cast members Amina Buddafly on her latest book called “the other woman”. We gifted her one dress thinking she would have worn it on a date, event or even club appearance. Amina gave Eight2Seven the opportunity and worn it on Love & Hip Hop. Never thinking she would have worn it on the show. If you continue to stay determine, consistent, persistent and put your faith in GOD first. God will open doors that you didn’t expect to open. As Eight2Seven continue to grow as small business, trying to figure out all the ins and out of this business. We appreciate the exposure to the max! To all business owners growing a business LITERALLY from the ground up, please Trust your struggles and never give up. Once your actions are pure as your heart and you’re living your dream. If you have the grind & hustle to match, you cannot be stop. We here at Eight2Seven don’t have it all figure out but we are learning & growing to be better and better in building a phenomenal brand. It sure is not an easy road, but it’s all worth it. Special thank you to Amina Buddafly, Shinese from Bkgirlsnightout, Monica from Stefani Style Inc. & BKLYN Commons for this amazing opportunity.

Amina Buddafly from VH1 Love & Hip Hop NY releases new book “The Other Woman”

We here at Eight2Seven Boutique starting the year off in a great way. We had the opportunity to do a Q&A with the talented Amina Buddafly in regards to her new book “The Other Woman”. On Monday January 9th at BKLYN Commons (495 Flatbush Avenue) we were invited to Amina meet, greet & listen intimate event. From the beginning to the end the vibe and experience was exceptional. Amina started by serenading the crowd with her beautiful vocals, while playing an acoustic piano. Following schedule fans were able to meet and greet Amina personally. Everyone who purchased a book was able to take a photo with her and get their copy of the book signed. Not only Amina was promoting her book, she was still in full Mommy mode with her children not too far from her. Towards the ending, we were able to chit chat and ask a couple of questions.
Nastassia- For the book, why did you use Amina Pankey and not Amina Buddafly?
Amina- Buddafly is my artist name for my music. For the book, I wanted to use my real name because it’s about me before the music before everything.
N- How did you chose the name of your book?
A- Ummm…omg… to be honest I sat down with someone she suggested it, at 1st I was like well that’s obvious. If I am talking about the story that is on tv it’s kind of like who the other women would be, but then I thought about it as I was writing I had like more and more situations, it actually makes sense the title. People kinda get it misunderstood because they think the other women is one woman. But I am talking about different scenarios were there was another woman. Whether it was myself sometimes or another woman when I was with a man, it’s a bunch of different scenarios which applied and I started loving the title and I decided to use it.
N- What do you want your readers to understand from reading this book?
A- I want readers to understand me a little bit more. I felt misunderstood and to understand who I am and why I made the choices that I made & not to judge so quick, because when you read the whole thing if you don’t like me & still don’t like me it’s ok but at least you have a better understanding of why I did what I did and who I am and if you still don’t like me it’s ok.
N- Use one word to describe yourself & why?
A- Real. I always keep it real and that’s what the book is about, I don’t like liars and lies. Everything I tell in the book is the truth. In general I am always myself, I don’t put up a front I don’t do things for media purposes or public perception. I just like to always be honest if it’s bad or good for me whatever, I just like real people.
N- Do you have any future projects coming up?
A- Yes, the book is 1st then my new EP has 5 songs acoustic which is only piano. It comes out later this month & than probably some spot dates. I don’t really have a tour planned. I am hit major cities for the book, along with the book signing I will be performing in those cities too.

It was awesome hearing & seeing a different side of Amina compare to the VH1 Love & Hip Hop “stories”. We had the chance to see her perform, see her interact with her children & explain her side. We were able to see her in a different light. If you have not had the chance to read her book yet, you can find it at www.13thandjoan.com/aminabuddafly. If you’re looking for a dope venue, BKLYN Commons is the place. BKLYN Commons is a co-work space and fabulous event space for all kinds of parties.
